About my soaps
What is soap?
a substance used with water for washing and cleaning, made of a compound of natural oils or fats with sodium hydroxide or another strong alkali, and typically having perfume and colouring added.
So you have it: Natural oils, strong alkali as base ingredients. With optional perfume and colours if you want it to smell and look nice.
What is not soap?
Soap and dertergents are not the same thing.
Your current shower gel lists various sulfates and many other unknown ingredients that end in -ol, -ium or -ate.
The sulfates are strong synthetic detergents and the other synthetic ingredients are there to either stabilize it or make it less harsh on your skin.
Cold process soap
Let's talk a bit more about these soaps, they are natural treasures, made with carefully selected ingredients and using a cold process recipe.
Cold process is an ancient soap making process that has a very low environmental footprint and allows to keep all the benefits of the ingredients.
Once molded and cut, they are cured for a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks. That's a long time but it hardens the soap and makes sure that it lasts longer.
Making soap has some kind of relaxing, meditation effect. I start by selecting my recipe and choosing the story I want my soap to tell through its scents, colour and feel.
This led to me making more soaps than my family goes through (even when washing your hands 50 times a day).
Friends and family started using my soaps then I had inquiries from their own friends and families so I decided to make it official and make soaps for the rest of the world. One small batch at a time.
Nature is very important
Nature is important to me and my family so we try to have minimal packaging and use earth friendly, quality products for your everyday use.
I am carefully selecting my materials from reputable Canadian suppliers to ensure a standard of quality through ingredients I can trust.
A passion with all my love
When I make soap, I want to share my creativity and make great soaps with you. Start taking care of yourself with gentle products that tell a story.
